About Ms. Quinn
All About Ms. Quinn!
My name is Liza Quinn and I am excited to begin my 15th year of teaching! I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I was in the first grade and I never changed my mind! I have great memories of my own elementary school experience, and I look forward to making it a positive one for the students at Waddell. I grew up in Greenville, SC with my parents and one older brother. I have two adorable nieces, Lily (4) and baby Leila! I went to college at Elon University in Burlington, NC. I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I moved to Greensboro, NC and took my first job as a Kindergarten teacher. The next year I moved to 2nd grade and spent 7 years in that grade level. I loved teaching all of the subjects, but teaching reading was always my favorite. In 2010, I earned a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from UNCG. I have a special interest in teaching young children to read, so I also obtained a K-12 Reading Specialist Licensure in 2010. It is exciting for me to watch students develop into great readers and become excited about books and learning! In the fall of 2012, I joined the Waddell family, and I couldn't be happier! I love teaching reading to the Kindergarten and First Grade students at Waddell. We are going to read books every day, create our own books, and learn and grow together! I will work hard every day to help your child be successful. In 2017, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early to Middle Childhood Literacy. This experience helped me to grow as a teacher and learn new ways to reach each student. In my free time, I love to exercise and be active! I enjoy going to the gym, running, and watching sports. I cheer for the Carolina Tarheels, Carolina Panthers, and Charlotte Hornets! I also love reading. That includes all types of books, whether they are for children or adults. You can never have too many books! I love to spend time with my family and friends and my favorite places to visit are the beach and the lake! |
